3 Things That Happen In The Body When We Laugh

People say, laugh is healthy. It can make you happier, happier, and unleash a burden that might be a problem for you. This phrase was not wrong.

In 2001, as published in WebMD, researchers from the University of Maryland conducted research showing that laughter is the last weapon to visit heart disease. Approximately so the researchers reported to the American Heart Association, which says the heart of someone who has problems will be healthier when routine laughs, and use humor to deal with problems.

In a study conducted by Michael Miller, MD, director of the Center for Preventive Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, he and colleagues asked 150 people who had had a heart attack or heart surgery to go to a party, and without them knowing, there they will meet someone who is dressed in identical clothes with them, or there will be a waiter who spills a drink on them. The researchers then compared the responses they showed, both from heart disease patients, and from 150 healthy respondents without heart problems.

The result, a healthier person is more likely to laugh and use humor to get out of the uncomfortable situation. On the other hand, only 40% of people with heart problems are facing this situation with laughter.

Not yet known how exactly laughing can protect the heart, says Miller. But some evidence suggests that the effects of laughter, giggling, or laughing out loud can reduce stress hormones such as cortisol, while reducing blood pressure. This means laughter can reduce the risk of heart disease. "As is known, mental stress can damage the endothelium, the protective walls of blood vessel lines," says Miller again.

Miller continues, in addition to the physiological effects, there is an additional mechanism to explain why laughing is good for your heart and your health. He hopes to find out more in the next study.

Lee Berk, DrPh, study pioneer laughing, said laughter has been shown to reduce cortisol and other stress hormones, although not everyone agrees. "Laughter can also improve the immune system," added Berk, who is also director of the Neurommunology Center at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and professor of Health Promotion and Education at the University School of Public Health.

In his study published in the American Journal of the Medical Sciences in December 1989, he found that laughter is a good type of stress repellent. It reduces cortisol, epinephrine, and other nasty substances in the blood. Increased cortisol and epinephrine will suppress the immune system, so reducing these levels is believed to be beneficial to the body.

3 benefits of laughing for the body

If you pay attention to what has been described by some researchers above, briefly laughing can give effect to our body in this case.

1. Lowering blood pressure

Just as already explained above, laughter lowers blood pressure. So it's good you often laugh (just do not laugh too often alone). A person's blood pressure drop from laughter can also protect you from strokes and heart problems.

2. Establish the abdominal muscles

In addition to exercise and ngegym, laughter can be one solution to build the abdominal muscles to tight and also free from bad fats. When we laugh, the abdominal muscles will get interested and contract. A similar situation occurs when you practice to form the abdomen in the gym.

3. Producing endorphins

Endorphins are natural pain relievers from the body. It also stimulates the happiness in the brain, which will make you more relaxed and able to control your emotions.
